Objective(s)

To equip students with practical skills employed in the exploration and mining industry, petroleum industry and water sector or research institutions.

 

Learning outcomes

 By the end of this course, students should be able to:

Undertake geoscience related assignments.

Maintain a logbook of all the activities undertaken during the entire duration of the assignment.

Compile, process and analyze data collected during the assignment task and produce pertinent report.

 

Course/ Training structure

Will be determined by the institution/ company hosting the candidate in collaboration with academic supervisor during industrial training.  

Course Content

The students will undertake practical engagement in a company, research institution or public/private agency. The student’s activities will be supervised jointly by staff members from both the company and the Geology Department.

Assessment

Field notebook/logbook (20%), Final Report 60%, Oral Presentation 10%, Industrial Supervisor assessment 10%.
