1. Course Description

This course consists of  an in-depth coverage of the theories and practice of bibliographic description and subject analysis. The course covers the organization of both print and electronic information and authority control. Emphasis is on classification of documents with reference to current issues and future trends, problems encountered in classification,   subject analysis and outline authority control.

 

2. Course Objectives

The objective of the course is to impart knowledge and skills on organizing library materials and to give students an opportunity to work with the basic classification tools  including Library of Congress Subject Heading (LCSH), Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and the Library of Congress Classification (LCC).
