This course addresses theories and issues associated with language and literacy teaching and learning at different levels of education. The purpose of the course is to provide advanced theoretical and practical understanding in literacy and language teaching as well as curriculum development and teachers’ professional development in the area. The course will also expose the students to practical teaching of specific topics in language and literacy. The course intends to: Examine the language development and learning, expose students to approaches and models to language teaching, develop theoretical and practical knowledge of designing, implementing, and evaluating language curriculum.  Coursework assessment comprises term paper, Timed test and Group assignment that will carry 50%. The University Examination will constitute 50%.
